  1. Where do I buy or change a Meal Plan?

To purchase or change your meal plan you need to visit the Wildcat Express Center located on the first floor of the University Center, behind the TCF Bank. Their phone number is (906)227-1686.

  2. How do I get excused from being required to have a meal plan when living on campus?

When living in the residence halls at NMU you are required to have one of the Residence Hall Meal Plans. However, dining services recognizes that there are certain circumstances that may make a meal plan on campus an issue. We have a process to receive a "Room Only" contract (I.E. No Meal Plan). The following are examples of cases for application of a "Room Only" contract.

  • Medical Problem
  • Financial Problem
  • Cultural/International Reasons
  • Other (Must explain situation)

Upon completion and submission of the forms, a decision will be made. If you would like to apply for a "Room Only" contract please download the forms in Adobe PDF format. You can get Adobe Reader here. The instructions are on the first 2 pages and the applications follow.

  3. How do I promote an event on a table tent in the dining locations?

Promotional materials are submitted and reviewed by the Center For Student Enrichment and Leadership Program, which can be reached by emailing SEC@nmu.edu, calling (906) 227-2439 or stopping by their office at 1206 in the University Center.

  4. Who can I talk to about my diet and food choices at dining locations?

NMU has a registered dietitian to serve the student population on campus. Robin Rahoi would be pleased to talk to you and answer any questions you may have. She can be reached at rrahoi@nmu.edu

  5. Who can I talk to about the food options available at my dining locations and my food quality?

Any questions dealing with your food options should be direct to the manager of the dining location. View the contact list to see who you should contact or you can send us your comments using the feedback form.

  6. How does an all you care to eat meal plan work?

In the Wildcat Den your card is swiped and you have 45 minutes to have all you care to eat. If you leave the dining location, you must swipe your card again to eat. In The Marketplace your card will be required to enter the room and you're welcome to stay as long as you like.

  7. How do I add CatCa$h to my Wildcat Express Card?

CatCa$h can be added by cash, check or credit card in the Wildcat Express Office, on-line https://nmu.managemyid.com or at the LRC through the Value Port cash machine. The Wildcat Express Center is located on the first floor of the University Center. Their phone number is 227-1686. They are open 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.

  8. How do I get/use a guest pass for a visitor?

Four (4) guest passes are included with the Constant, Any 14, and Any 8 Meal Plans. The guest passes are also on your Card. When entering or paying for your meal, tell the Dining Services employee that you would like to use a guest pass for your visitor's meal.

  9. What should I do if I lose my Wildcat Express Card or if it stops working?

It is very important to immediately notify the Wildcat Express office or log on to http://meet.nmu.edu/dining/wec/ if your card is lost or stolen. Your Wildcat Express card can be replaced for a fee at the Express Center located on the first floor of the University Center.

  10. How do I apply for a job in NMU Dining Services?

Applications for any student position are located in the Dining Services office in room 2204 on the second floor of the University Center.
